Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online (please see our Online Access webpage for more information), by calling POD (Prescription Ordering Direct) on 0808 164 7678 or in writing to the surgery. For compliance reasons, we are not able to take repeat prescription requests via the telephone.

Please tick the items you require on the request form attached to your last prescription. If you have more than one repeat prescription, please try and order all your items together. If you do not have a request form you can either obtain one at reception or put your request in writing, ensuring that you include your name, date of birth and address.

If you collect your prescription form from reception, it will take a minimum of 48 hours for processing (requests are not processed over the weekend). If you collect it from a pharmacy it will take 72 hours. It would be greatly appreciated, if possible, that five working days are allowed for processing all requests. If you are ordering your prescription earlier than seven working days before they are due, please state the reason why, (for example you may be going away on holiday) otherwise it may not be possible to issue medication earlier than the expected due date.

Unless you are ordering online, please either deliver or post your request to the practice. If you would like us to post your prescription back to you, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

Prescription ordering direct (POD)

The POD is a telephone service which allows you to request your repeat prescription over the phone. Ordering your repeat prescription will be a quick and simple telephone call.

The service hopes to reduce prescription waste by helping to ensure patients order the medication they need, when they need it. When you call you will speak to a dedicated, experienced and fully trained prescription co-ordinator. You can discuss your medication requirements and they can alert you if a medication review is needed.

You will be asked which GP practice you belong to and if you consent to your medical record being accessed to process your prescription request. You will then be asked to confirm your identity by giving personal details such as name and date of birth. Each item on your repeat will be discussed and only those needed will be ordered.

You can contact POD at 08081 647678, Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 16:00 (excluding bank holidays).

Text the name of your practice to 07800 006401. A prescription co-ordinator in the POD team will call you back by the end of the next business day, between 8.00am and 5.00pm.

Prescription Pre-payment

For people who have to pay prescription charges and need regular medication, valuable savings can be made through the Prescription Pre-payment Certificate (PPC) scheme. Current charges and other information can be obtained by accessing the NHS Business Services Authority website at Similarly, there are medical exemption certificates available for people with certain conditions, including epilepsy and diabetes (except where treatment is by diet alone), that provide an entitlement to free prescriptions and avoid the need to buy a PPC.
